NEW YORK - The Cen­tral In­ter­col­le­giate Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion's (CIAA) 2017 Of­fen­sive Foot­ball Player of the Year, Trent Can­non, has been se­lected to the New York Jets' 53-man reg­u­lar sea­son ros­ter.

Upon the Na­tional Foot­ball League's (NFL) Septem­ber 1 ros­ter dead­line, Trent Can­non has been listed on the Jets' first of­fi­cial depth chart as sec­ond string at both kick re­turner and punt re­turner.

Can­non, a for­mer Vir­ginia State Univer­sity run­ning back, ap­peared in three of the Jets' NFL pre­sea­son con­tests. In his time on the field, the Hampton, VA na­tive con­trib­uted 27 car­ries for 92 to­tal rush­ing yards (3.4 avg.) to the team's of­fen­sive ef­forts. Rec­og­nized for his speed and agility, Can­non was also fea­tured on spe­cial teams, mak­ing 8 re­turns for 132 yards.

In the 2018 NFL Draft, Can­non was se­lected in the 6th round (204th over­all) by the Jets. Trent Can­non and the Jets open the reg­u­lar sea­son on Mon­day, Sept. 10 against the Detroit Li­ons.
