Cannon makes NFL roster

NEW YORK - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (CIAA) 2017 Offensive Football Player of the Year, Trent Cannon, has been selected to the New York Jets' 53-man regular season roster.
Upon the National Football League's (NFL) September 1 roster deadline, Trent Cannon has been listed on the Jets' first official depth chart as second string at both kick returner and punt returner.
Cannon, a former Virginia State University running back, appeared in three of the Jets' NFL preseason contests. In his time on the field, the Hampton, VA native contributed 27 carries for 92 total rushing yards (3.4 avg.) to the team's offensive efforts. Recognized for his speed and agility, Cannon was also featured on special teams, making 8 returns for 132 yards.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Cannon was selected in the 6th round (204th overall) by the Jets. Trent Cannon and the Jets open the regular season on Monday, Sept. 10 against the Detroit Lions.
