South­side Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter and Amer­i­can Red Cross ex­ceed blood drive goal

SRMC and Amer­i­can Red Cross sur­pass goal; col­lect 35 pints on Aug. 30

PETERSBURG — On Thurs­day, Aug. 30, South­side Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter (SRMC) held a blood drive with the Amer­i­can Red Cross. Be­cause of the help of staff, vol­un­teers, com­mu­nity mem­bers and the sup­port of lo­cal me­dia, SRMC was able to nearly triple the re­sults of the last blood drive held in 2016.

A to­tal of 35 pints were col­lected equal­ing up to 105 lives saved.

SRMC set a goal of 30 pints for this event and wants to thank ev­ery­one for help­ing make it such a suc­cess. The next blood drive is Thurs­day, Nov. 8, 1 p.m.-7 p.m., with regis­tra­tion to open soon.
