His­tory lec­ture series

RICH­MOND — The James River Ad­vi­sory Coun­cil will present its “For­got­ten His­tory Lec­ture Series” at 6-8 p.m. on Tues­day, Sept. 18, at the Na­tional Park Ser­vice Civil War Vis­i­tor Cen­ter, lo­cated at His­toric Tre­de­gar, 500 Tre­de­gar St. Ad­mis­sion is free, but seat­ing is lim­ited.

His­to­rian Em­manuel Dab­ney, park cu­ra­tor at Petersburg Na­tional Bat­tle­field, will present a lec­ture on ed­u­ca­tion, eman­ci­pa­tion, and race in an­te­bel­lum, wartime, and post-war Rich­mond. The lec­ture ex­am­ines the lives of Si­las Omo­hun­dro, a white slave trader in an­te­bel­lum and Civil War Rich­mond and his en­slaved wife, Corinna, and their fam­ily from 1850-1877.
