Elect Partin Ward 3 councilor

The Progress-Index Weekend - - OPINION -

I have had the pleasure of knowing Johnny Partin for a number of years. Since his graduation from VMI, he has continually impressed me with both his enthusiasm to improve the City of Hopewell and his deep commitment to service. These are exemplified by his years of organizing trash clean-ups throughout the city and his successful recruitment of both young and old to participate; his continued service with FOLAR (Friends of Lower Appomattox River); his multiple successful school supply drives where he appeals to both the community at large along with local churches; his many club activities including being named president of our local Kiwanis club; and probably most noteworthy is his service to our country through the Virginia National Guard where he recently received his Captain’s bars.

While Johnny is a young man, his gentle appearance should never be confused with innocence or naivety. Those who know him understand that Johnny is wise beyond his years. I have watched with amazement at how he handles controversy and confrontation. He always gives dignity and respect to those who disagree with him while making his point clear and understandable. This, along with his commitment to service and to our city makes him an excellent example of what a city councilor should look like.

Please join me and elect Johnny Partin as our next Ward 3 city councilor.
