Russ Allen Barfield, age 60, died Oc­to­ber 4th 2018 at his home in Ch­ester, Va. Russ was born at KAH, Ft Lee, Vir­ginia, on 15 May 1958. An Iron­worker by trade, he re­tired from Iron Work­ers Union Lo­cal 28 in 2016 af­ter more than 30 years. He worked many and var­ied chal­leng­ing jobs trav­el­ling through­out the US but al­ways re­turned home to Ch­ester­field.

Russ's rep­u­ta­tion for a straight for­ward at­ti­tude and hon­est hard work was well know and re­spected. Af­ter re­tire­ment he en­joyed pur­su­ing var­ied projects - semi-work­ing when needed to help oth­ers, and most im­por­tantly trav­el­ling the coun­try and liv­ing the life he loved – col­lect­ing friends wher­ever he went.

His en­ergy for life and love will be missed by all that called him fam­ily or friend. Russ is sur­vived by his lov­ing mother, Dona P. Thomp­son of Ch­ester; step-father Skip Thomp­son; three brothers – Danny, Robert (Cindy) and Dou­glas; three step­broth­ers; two nieces and one nephew, as well as great nieces and neph­ews. He is sur­vived by a host of lov­ing friends. He was pre­ceded in death by his father Dan Barfield and a sis­ter, Deb­o­rah.

Rusty's last para­graph on an early re­sume read “Travel any­where and any­time I am needed – Live for my next as­sign­ment wher­ever it might take me”.

He is now on his next and for­ever as­sign­ment.

Ser­vices will be held on Thurs­day morn­ing, 11 Oct 2018 at 11:00 AM at J.T. Mor­riss & Son Fu­neral Home at 3050 W. Hun­dred Road, Ch­ester, VA.

Vis­i­ta­tion for friends and fam­ily will be held Wed­nes­day, 10 Oc­to­ber 2018 from 6 – 8 PM.
