On Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 9, 2018, af­ter a brief ill­ness, Mr. Ed­ward “Buck” Rose, Jr. at the age of 84 went home to be with the Lord. He was a na­tive of Din­wid­die County and the son of the late Ed­ward Rose, Sr. and An­nie Laura Rose. At an early age he con­fessed Christ and be­came a mem­ber of the Rocky Mount Bap­tist Church, McKenney, VA. He was mar­ried to Sal­lie Beatrice Hall Rose and was a for­mer em­ployee of Brenco Ball Bear­ing Com­pany, Brown and Wil­liamson To­bacco Com­pany, the Vir­ginia De­part­ment of Trans­porta­tion and Fiouricci Man­u­fac­tur­ing. “Buck” was also the com­mu­nity barber in McKenney for many years. He was pre­de­ceased by a son, Mar­cus Ter­rell Rose,, and three si­b­lings, El­iz­a­beth Tay­lor, Frank Rose, and Fran­cis Ri­d­ley.

Cher­ished mem­o­ries will for­ever be kept in the hearts of his wife and “love of his life” of 63 years, Mrs. Sal­lie B. Rose; and his beloved chil­dren, Jacque­line How­ell (An­thony), El­liott, Wayne, Vic­tor, Ron­ald, Rod­er­ick (Greta), Ale­sia and Ka­t­rina. Mr. Rose will also be fondly re­mem­bered by his pre­cious grand­chil­dren: Brian White, LaShonde Faulcon-Rose (Phay), and An­gela Rose. “Buck” will be missed by his sis­ter, Dixie Grif­fin (Char­lie), and broth­ers, William Rose, Thomas Rose(Ruby) and Jack Rose(Irene); broth­ers-in-law, Leotha Hall (Ann) and Mint “Sonny” Bas­night; as well as a host of nieces, neph­ews and friends in­clud­ing fu­ture son-in-law, Ge­orge “Melvin” Pro­sise, and close fam­ily friends, Denise & Jes­sica Tabron and Carl Hol­man.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held 12 noon, Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15, 2018, at Rocky Mount Bap­tist Church, 24901 Ridge Rd, McKenney, VA 23872, with the Pas­tor, Rev. Car­los Jor­dan, eu­lo­giz­ing and Rev. Alexan­der Wil­liams, of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial will be in the church ceme­tery. A fam­ily vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 14, 2018, 6–7pm at the McKenney ChapelJoseph M. John­son & Son Fu­neral Home. The fam­ily will re­ceive rel­a­tives and friends at the res­i­dence, 11412 Sapony Church Rd, Mckenney, VA, and can be con­tacted at 804478-4846.
