The Progress-Index and Herald-Post encourage our readers to submit letters of support for candidates in the November elections. However, we will not accept letters written by the candidates. We reserve our right and discretion as to which letters we publish. We reserve the right to edit for length, clarity, brevity, spelling and grammar. We will not accept letters that contain abusive or vulgar language, unfounded claims against or personal attacks on candidates, their families and other letter writers. We will not accept anonymous letters or material not generated by the letter writer, such as campaign fliers, speech excerpts and socialmedia postings. Letters should be no longer than 400 words. Please ensure your name, address and a daytime phone number are included. Phone numbers are necessary to verify writer authenticity. Phone numbers will not be published. Letters must be typed and emailed (no handwritten letters will be accepted). The deadline to submit letters for either publication is 11:59 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, Oct. 28. For publication in The Progress-Index, send letters to email@example.com and use the word Election in the subject line. For publication in the Herald-Post, send letters to firstname.lastname@example.org . Note that depending on space available and the volume of emails received, we make no guarantee that all letters will be published that are received within the campaign process.
