Male victim shot, police arrest suspect
Man transported to VCU Medical Center with lifethreatening injuries
CHESTERFIELD — Police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting that occurred on Monday, Jan. 9.
At about 9:26 a.m. on Monday, police were called to the 6900 block of Mason Run Drive for a reported disturbance. While officers were en route, the Emergency Communications Center received additional calls reporting that shots had been fired.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police have arrested Demontre L. Bennett, 23, in relation to the incident. Bennett, of the 2200 block of Mandalay Drive in Richmond, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Bennett and the victim are known to each other.
Bennett is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
