Waver­ley Lah­meyer Tray­lor III of Smithfield, Va., went to be with the Lord on Jan­uary 4, 2017. He was the son of the late Fran­cis E. and Waverly L. Tray­lor.

Waver­ley was re­tired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Of­fi­cer and was very well known as a sub­mariner. After his Navy ca­reer Waver­ley worked for two en­gi­neer­ing firms the last one be­ing EG&G. He also worked for the Sher­iff’s Depart­ment as a An­i­mal Con­trol Of­fi­cer. He also loved to write and had pub­lished two books, one about the Dis­mal Swamp and the other about his fa­ther.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Mar­garet Roark Tray­lor; daugh­ter, Chris­tine T. Sex­ton; son, Ed­ward Brian Tray­lor and wife Bon­nie, and Travis Vic­tor Tray­lor and spe­cial friend Toni; nine grand­chil­dren and one great grand­child.
