Keep win­ter coats out of the car seat

Ac­cord­ing to the Amer­i­can Academy of Pe­di­atrics, win­ter coats and snow suits should not be worn while your child is in his or her car seat. If you are in an ac­ci­dent, the in­su­la­tion can be flat­tened by the im­pact and could al­low the seat’s straps to loosen and your child could slip out of the seat.
