Day care provider charged in 2016 infant death
Woman charged with manslaughter, neglect
CHESTERFIELD — Chesterfield County authorities have charged a day care provider in connection to the 2016 death of an infant.
Chesterfield police, after consultation with the Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, obtained warrants for Carrie C. Persichini, the day care operator, for involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect.
Persichini, 52, of the 4200 block of Bridgewood Road, turned herself in to authorities onthe afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Police launched an investigation into the death of a 3-month- old male at an inhome day care in the 4200 block of Bridgewood Road on Aug. 23, 2016.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2016, police responded to a residence in the 4200 block of Bridgewood Road for a report that a 3-month- old male was unresponsive and in cardiacarrest. The child, Peter Hitt, was transported to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Persichini was released from the Chesterfield County Jail on Wednesday on an unsecured bond, and is set to appear in Chesterfield County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Jan. 19 at 9 a.m.
