Sue Motto Boyd, 78, of Colo­nial Heights passed away on Tues­day, Jan­uary 10, 2017, at the Med­i­cal Col­lege of Vir­ginia. Born in Colo­nial Heights, she was the daugh­ter of the late Peter Paul and Eleanor Mayes Motto; and was also pre­ceded in death by a brother, Ken­neth Earl Motto. Mrs. Boyd was an ac­tive mem­ber of Ivey Memo­rial United Methodist Church and had re­tired as a sec­re­tary in 1991 from the Vir­ginia State Po­lice. Sue was a lov­ing wife, mother, grand­mother and sis­ter.

She is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band of 56 years, Her­bert L. Boyd; two sons, Alan P. Boyd and wife, Sharon and Tracy N. Boyd and wife, Kim; three grand­chil­dren, Grant, Kayla and Lau­ren Boyd; two sis­ters, Jean Fos­ter and Shirley Bardo; one brother, Franklin Motto and wife, Fay; her two fur ba­bies, Odie and Rex; and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

A grave­side ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Satur­day, Jan­uary 14, 2017, at Sun­set Memo­rial Park, Chester, Va., with the Rev. Jim Smith of­fi­ci­at­ing. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Fri­day, Jan­uary 13, 2017, at the Colo­nial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Fu­neral Homes and Cre­ma­tory, 2033 Boule­vard. In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Colo­nial Heights An­i­mal Shel­ter, P.O. Box 3401, Colo­nial Heights, VA 23834 in mem­ory of Mrs. Boyd.
