MABEL E.F. DAVIS
Mrs. Mabel Eugenia Flowers Davis affectionally known as “Jean,” 74, of 11004 Doyle Boulevard, McKenney, Va., entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday morning, September 10, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 6, 1943, to Almas Sue Hall Flowers and the late Eugene Flowers. At the age of 19, Jean left Virginia and moved to Bronx, New York, where she resided for over 35 years. In 1961, she married Charles Davis and to this union were born two children. In 1997, Jean returned to Virginia making McKenney her home. Jean worked several years for Alexander’s Department Store, Aetna Insurance Company, and the Bank of McKenney where she retired in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Davis.
She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church where she currently served as a greeter.
Jean loved family, shopping, cooking, riding, vacationing and eating.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her mother, Alma Sue Hall Flowers of Midlothian, Va.; son, Donald Anthony Davis; and beloved daughter-inlaw, Janet Barnard of Green Brook, NJ; her daughter, Evangeline Davis of McKenney, Va.; her beloved granddaughter, Kaila Danielle Davis of Green Brook, NJ; devoted sister, Geraldine Jones and brother-in-law, John “Nubby” Jones of Stony Creek, Va., and beloved sister, Cassandra Flowers Savage of Midlothian, Va.; beloved brothers, Melvin Flowers (Juanita) of New York and Richard Flowers (Veronica) of Macon, Ga.; her aunts Dolly Hill of Jarratt, Va., and Herlene Flowers of Stony Creek, Va.; and one uncle, John Thorton Hall; a devoted niece Renita Jones Johnson (Bruce); other nieces and nephews, RaQuelle Hill, Landy Flowers, Reginald Jones, Ryan Bouldin, Kevin Savage, Sharon Flowers-Thomas, Michael Flowers, Emily Flowers, Shamel Flowers, Cory Flowers, Trent Miles, and Shawn Williams; devoted cousins, Magnolia Gordon, Harold Flowers, Gale Dancy, Claudine Jackson, George Flowers, Valetia Milligan, Mable Ridley and a host of other beloved cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 23503 Flatfoot Road, Stony Creek, Va., with the Pastor, Rev. David L. Banks, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in McKenney.
