Mr. Aubrey L. Ma­son was born De­cem­ber 23, 1943, in Peters­burg, Va. He de­parted this life on Septem­ber 7, 2017, af­ter a lengthy ill­ness at his res­i­dence. He was pre­ceded in death by his son, David; mother, Eve­lyn Ma­son Turner; brother, John Henry Ma­son; and sis­ter, Clau­dia Ma­son Tucker.

Aubrey re­ceived his ed­u­ca­tion from Peters­burg Pub­lic School grad­u­at­ing from Pe­abody High School. He at­tended Zion Bap­tist Church in his ear­lier years. Aubrey held dif­fer­ent po­si­tions at var­i­ous places of em­ploy­ment at Tit­mus Op­ti­cal and Se­ward Lug­gage. He was also a skilled painter.

Aubrey loved spend­ing time with his fam­ily and friends. He pro­vided co­pi­ous amounts of laugh­ter and was fre­quently the fam­ily prankster. It was a com­mon sight to see his green eyes light up when he was sur­rounded by chil­dren. Aubrey was well known in the Bunker Hill Com­mu­nity and was a friend to ev­ery­one.

Aubrey leaves to cher­ish his mem­ory: a sis­ter, Wy­onella Camp­bell (Rochester) of Peters­burg, Va.; brothers, Wil­liam Ma­son (Ok Hui) of Hamp­ton, Va., Mil­ton Turner and Crist Turner, all of Peters­burg, Va.; aunt, Lu­cille Burn­ham of Peters­burg, Va.; a host of nieces, neph­ews, cousins and friends.

Ser­vice for Mr. Aubrey L. Ma­son will be held at

1 p.m. Satur­day, Septem­ber 16, 2017, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilk­er­son Fu­neral Es­tab­lish­ment, Inc., 102 South Av­enue, Peters­burg, Va., the Rev. Dr. An­drew J. White, Sr. eu­lo­gist. In­ter­ment to fol­low at Lit­tle Church Street Ceme­tery.
