Clarence E. “Ge­orge Lee” Hawkins, 83, of DeWitt, Va., en­tered into eter­nal life at his home sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily. Born June 6, 1934, he was the son of the late David Lunsford and Mary Slate Hawkins, and was also pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Fan­nie Cairns Hawkins; five sis­ters; three brothers; and step­son, Chuck Moore.

He is sur­vived by his de­voted com­pan­ion and wife, Clara Moore Hawkins; chil­dren, Re­nee Davis (Doug), Ge­orge Hawkins, Sr. (Karen), Wil­liam “Alex” Hawkins (Carol); stepchil­dren, Chris Moore (Cynthia), Chad Moore; grand­chil­dren, Jeremy Davis (Kim), Vanessa Davis, Ge­orge Hawkins Jr., Tammy Hawkins, Don­ald Hawkins, Hunter Hawkins, No­rah Hawkins; step­grand­chil­dren, Vic­to­ria, Kimberly and Ken­neth Moore; great-grand­chil­dren, Bran­don, Alexis and For­est Davis, Eric Robert­son, An­gle and Jacob Milliner; sis­ters, Jeanie Reeves and Rose McCaf­fity (Bil­lie); and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

A grave­side ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Satur­day, Septem­ber 16, 2017, in South­lawn Memo­rial Park, S. Prince Ge­orge, with the Rev­erend Ge­orge Whip­ple of­fi­ci­at­ing. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends Fri­day night, Septem­ber 15, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Fu­neral Homes and Cre­ma­tory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Peters­burg, VA 23805. Clarence re­quested that all fam­ily and friends at­tend­ing his ser­vices come dressed in ca­sual at­tire.
