Louis James Stech, Jr., 70, of Din­wid­die County, died Tues­day, Septem­ber 12, 2017. A U.S. Army vet­eran, Louis was a life­long res­i­dent of Din­wid­die and a life­long mem­ber of St. John Catholic Church. He re­tired from the De­fense Com­mis­sary Agency at Fort Lee. He loved hunt­ing, fish­ing, and gar­den­ing. He was pre­ceded in death by his fa­ther, Louis James Stech.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Carolyn Stech; son, David Stech (Michelle); daugh­ter, Amy Stech; step-son, Troy Cost­ley (Sarah); mother, Mary Stech; grand­chil­dren, Lo­gan, Marissa, Kelvin, Keyshawn, Syd­ney, and Shelby; sis­ter, Patsy Root (Stan); brothers, Bobby Stech (Wanda), Ed­die Stech (Sonja), and Tommy Stech (Mary Beth); life­long friend, Calvin Wilk­er­son; as well as nu­mer­ous aunts, un­cles, nieces, and neph­ews. The fam­ily would like to ex­press their thanks to the doc­tors, nurses and care­givers at MCV for their com­pas­sion­ate care, and to Marla, Rob, and their boys for all of their help.

The fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurs­day, Septem­ber 14, 2017, at the Din­wid­die Chapel of J.T. Mor­riss & Son Fu­neral Home. A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 11 a.m. Fri­day, Septem­ber 15, 2017, at St. John Catholic Church fol­lowed by in­ter­ment in the church ceme­tery.
