C-SPAN to cover Pamplin symposium live
PETERSBURG — Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier is hosting their annual symposium on Oct. 20-22, 2017 and will be featured on C-SPAN’s American History TV. C-SPAN will be covering the Saturday and Sunday portion of the 2017 Pamplin Historical Park Symposium live and Friday will be recorded to be aired at a later date. Saturday’s speakers are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. while Sunday’s speakers are from 9 a.m. to noon with a speaker’s round table forum from 1 to 2 p.m.
This year’s annual symposium, sponsored by the Bank of Southside Virginia, brings together seven outstanding and nationally recognized scholars to discuss topics surrounding controversial and contentious Civil War generals.
The symposium takes place Friday evening through Sunday afternoon and reservations are required. Space is still available for the Friday $79 optional tour or the $40 optional Speaker’s Dinner and reservations are required.
The featured speakers are: Steve Engle of Florida Atlantic University, A. Wilson Greene, formerly of Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, John Hennessey of Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park, Sam Hood from Huntington, West Virginia, Brian Jordan of Sam Houston State University, George C. Rable of the University of Alabama, Craig Symonds of the United States Naval Academy.
