Neu­ro­science cen­ter to be built near John­ston-Wil­lis Hospi­tal

Mul­ti­ple prac­tices plan to re­lo­cate their of­fices to the new fa­cil­ity

RICH­MOND — Con­struc­tion on a new Neu­ro­science Cen­ter of Ex­cel­lence has re­cently be­gun in front of John­ston-Wil­lis Hospi­tal.

Set to open in sum­mer 2018, the cen­ter will in­clude a va­ri­ety of out­pa­tient neu­ro­log­i­cal ser­vices, in­clud­ing sev­eral neu­ro­science physi­cian prac­tices, a sleep lab and an out­pa­tient phys­i­cal ther­apy, speech ther­apy and oc­cu­pa­tional ther­apy clinic for pa­tients re­ha­bil­i­tat­ing from neu­ro­log­i­cal con­di­tions like stroke and move­ment dis­or­ders.

The prac­tices that will be re­lo­cat­ing their of­fices to the new build­ing in­clude Neu­ro­sur­gi­cal As­so­ciates, Neu­ro­log­i­cal As­so­ciates, and John­ston Wil­lis Hospi­tal’s Phys­i­cal Medicine & Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Clinic and Pain Clinic.

“I’ve watched John­ston-Wil­lis’s neu­ro­sur­gi­cal and neu­ro­log­i­cal ex­per­tise grow over the last 30 years, and I’m con­fi­dent the con­struc­tion of a neu­ro­science cen­ter of ex­cel­lence will pro­vide our pa­tients even stronger neu­ro­log­i­cal care since we’re now so close to John­ston-Wil­lis,” said K. Singh Sahni, M.D., med­i­cal direc­tor of John­ston-Wil­lis Hospi­tal’s Neu­ro­sciences and Gamma Knife Cen­ter and neu­ro­sur­geon with Neu­ro­sur­gi­cal As­so­ciates.

The two-story, 50,000 square foot fa­cil­ity has an an­tic­i­pated pro­ject cost of $10.5 mil­lion. There are ap­prox­i­mately 17,000 square feet re­main­ing avail­able for lease. Ad­di­tional pro­ject de­tails in­clude Emer­son Com­pa­nies as the de­vel­oper and civil de­sign by Townes Site En­gi­neer­ing. Ar­chi­tec­ture is by Wal­ter Parks Ar­chi­tects and con­struc­tion by KBS, Inc.

“John­ston-Wil­lis and its health­care providers have be­come well rec­og­nized in Cen­tral Vir­ginia as the leader in neu­ro­log­i­cal care,” said Zach McCluskey, CEO of John­ston-Wil­lis Hospi­tal. “We’re pleased that Neu­ro­sur­gi­cal As­so­ciates and Neu­ro­log­i­cal As­so­ciates have cho­sen a site near the front doors of John­ston Wil­lis in or­der to de­liver en­hanced out­pa­tient com­pre­hen­sive care for pa­tients.”
