WILLIAM A. ELLIS
William A. Ellis, 75, of Dinwiddie, Va., passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was the son of the late George Ellis, Sr. and Elizabeth Westbrook Ellis. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of DeWitt, Va. He worked several years at Brenco Co. He retired from Concrete & Pipe, Inc. after twenty plus years. He was educated in Dinwiddie Public School.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis A. Ellis; three brothers, Charles, Christopher and George; one sister, Beatrice E. Jordan.
William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice (Greenwood) Ellis, children, Delzoria E. Manson (Anthony), Darryl Ellis (Valaria), Dwayne K. Ellis (Wanda); extended families, three daughters, Tonia Crawley, Beverly Allen and Paula Lewis; two sons, Johnny Mayfield and Warren Jones; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Melvin Ellis, Sr. (Emma), Aldreece Brown, James Ellis, Jeane Myrick (Archie, devoted), Barbara Winfield (James) and Frederick Ellis (Patricia); brother-in-law, Leroy Jones, Ronald Johnson, Donnie Fitzgerald; sistersin-law, Mae F. Rhodes, Phyllis Jones, Constance Johnson, Alisare Fitzgerald, Lessie Bell Ellis; aunts, Doris Westbrook; a host of nieces, devoted, Marlo Perry, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, special to include David Walton, John Perry and Edward Worsham. A Celebration of life will be conducted at 12 noon, Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Smyrna Baptist Church , 18971 Carson Rd., Dinwiddie, VA with Rev. Leroy Rhone, officiating and Rev. Carlos Jordan, eulogizing. Burial to follow at Mt Level Baptist Church Dinwiddie, VA. Public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from the McKenney Chapel.
