Wil­liam A. Ellis, 75, of Dinwiddie, Va., passed away on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 7, 2017. He was the son of the late Ge­orge Ellis, Sr. and El­iz­a­beth West­brook Ellis. He was a mem­ber of Mount Cal­vary Bap­tist Church of DeWitt, Va. He worked sev­eral years at Brenco Co. He re­tired from Con­crete & Pipe, Inc. after twenty plus years. He was ed­u­cated in Dinwiddie Public School.

He was pre­ceded in death by one son, Den­nis A. Ellis; three broth­ers, Charles, Christo­pher and Ge­orge; one sis­ter, Beatrice E. Jor­dan.

Wil­liam is sur­vived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice (Green­wood) Ellis, chil­dren, Del­zo­ria E. Man­son (An­thony), Dar­ryl Ellis (Valaria), Dwayne K. Ellis (Wanda); ex­tended fam­i­lies, three daugh­ters, To­nia Craw­ley, Beverly Allen and Paula Lewis; two sons, Johnny May­field and War­ren Jones; seven­teen grand­chil­dren; seven great grand­chil­dren; broth­ers and sis­ters, Melvin Ellis, Sr. (Emma), Al­dreece Brown, James Ellis, Jeane Myrick (Archie, de­voted), Bar­bara Win­field (James) and Fred­er­ick Ellis (Pa­tri­cia); brother-in-law, Leroy Jones, Ron­ald John­son, Don­nie Fitzger­ald; sis­tersin-law, Mae F. Rhodes, Phyl­lis Jones, Con­stance John­son, Alis­are Fitzger­ald, Lessie Bell Ellis; aunts, Doris West­brook; a host of nieces, de­voted, Marlo Perry, neph­ews, cousins, other rel­a­tives and friends, spe­cial to in­clude David Wal­ton, John Perry and Ed­ward Wor­sham. Spe­cial thanks to South­side Home Health Care, Nurse Feli­cia Smith, Dr. Kirby Southall, Dr. Wil­liam Phipps, Dr. Yellindi and Suther­land Fam­ily Prac­tice.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of life will be con­ducted at 12 noon, Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 12, 2017, at Smyrna Bap­tist Church , 18971 Car­son Rd., Dinwiddie, VA with Rev. Leroy Rhone, of­fi­ci­at­ing and Rev. Car­los Jor­dan, eu­lo­giz­ing. Burial to fol­low at Mt Level Bap­tist Church Dinwiddie, VA. Public view­ing will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 11, 2017, from the McKen­ney Chapel. Fu­neral ser­vices have been en­trusted to the pro­fes­sional staff of the McKen­ney Chapel of Joseph M. John­son & Son Fu­neral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd, McKen­ney, (804) 478-4411.
