Thomas Glenn Hut­son, 77, of Colo­nial Heights, passed away on Fri­day, Novem­ber 10, 2017, at his res­i­dence. Born April 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Ge­orge S. and Elsie M. Hut­son and was also pre­ceded in death by his sib­lings, Ge­orge B. Hut­son and Elsie Reese.

Tommy had a very strong per­sonal re­la­tion­ship with his Lord and Sav­ior. Af­ter 20 years of ser­vice as a ma­chin­ist, he re­tired from Brown and Wil­liamson, where he en­joyed play­ing on the com­pany soft­ball team. He also worked for Colo­nial Webb Me­chan­i­cal, where he re­tired as an equip­ment man­ager af­ter 20 years, and also worked in the lawn and gar­den depart­ment at Wal­mart for 15 years. Thomas was an avid NASCAR fan, and was a master home gar­dener.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing and de­voted wife of 59 years, June Hi­lary Hut­son; son, Glenn Hut­son; daugh­ters, Vicki Hut­son and Lindsey Hut­son; grand­chil­dren, Zach­ery, Amanda, Tif­fany, and Court­ney; great-grand­chil­dren, Jus­tice, Jensen, Michael, Lu­cian, Freddy, Gabby, Lindsey June; sis­ter, Sarah John­son; beloved feath­ered com­pan­ions, Chloe, Johnny, and Gypsy; and other ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers and many friends.

A funeral ser­vice will be held at 6 p.m. on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16, 2017, at the Colo­nial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Cre­ma­tory, 2033 Boule­vard. In­ter­ment will be pri­vate. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends an hour be­fore the ser­vice on Thurs­day from 5–6 p.m. Flow­ers are wel­come or memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Amer­i­can Can­cer So­ci­ety, P.O.
