GEORGE W. MCKEEVER JR.
George Waverly McKeever, Jr., affectionately known as “Pete” or “King George,” 82, departed this life on November 10, 2017, at home surrounded by loving family members and friends.
He was baptized at an early age at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Trustee, Treasurer, member of the choir, male chorus and The Brotherhood.
King George retired from Allied Chemical after 33 years of service as a Warehouse Supervisor. He served on the Board of Directors at the Hopewell Chemical Credit Union. He was also a dedicated member of the Dendron Hunt Club and an avid fisherman.
George is preceded in death by former wife, Lillie Mae McKeever; parents, George and Lucille McKeever, Sr.; grandson, Keith Vaughan; brother, Lawrence McKeever; sister, Lavern Smith; and adopted son, Johnny Dabney (“Man”).
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; five sons, George McKeever III (Adonica) of Petersburg, Ronald McKeever, Sr. (Gloria) of New Orleans, LA, Armien Thomas and George Thomas, both of Hopewell, Antoine Finnell of Richmond; five daughters, Robin Mason (Danny), Rev. Brenda Diane Anderson (Tyrone) of Richmond, Barbara Jackson, Latoya Thomas Johnson (Shavon). all of Hopewell, and Tasha Key (Jerome) of Richmond; devoted daughters-in-law, Mary McKeever, Novella McKeever and Nadine McKeever; 26 grandchildren, Roteria, Rodney, George IV, Ronald Jr., Michael, Tymein, Jacqueline, Tyree, TyAsia, Deandre, Deatrin, Deavion, Denzell, Wesley, Lavert, Allyah, James, Chris, Derrick, Jaylisa, Jeelel, Tamisha, Alea, KeKe, Antonia and Tae; 14 great-grandchildren; godson, Antonio Miller; goddaughter, Tasha McKeever; brothers, James (Marilyn), Alvin (Augusta), Robert (Dulceana) and William (Deloise), Chirffronia Parker (Terry), Anthony Broadnax (Celestine), Keith Gillus (Joyce), Patrick Broadnax (Sandra), McKenney Sykes (Laura), Lee Christian (Helen) and Mack Broadnax Jr. (Wanda); five sisters, Helen Bennett, Rev. Merle Keene (Robert), Betty Nunnally, Frances Macklin and Gloria Rose; sisterin-law, Delores Holland and her husband who was a devoted brotherin-law Nathan; father and mother-in-law, Mack and Shirley Broadnax; many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing service will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, 613 E Wythe St., Pastor, Rev. Eli Melvin, officiating. Interment will follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
