Ge­orge Waverly Mc­K­eever, Jr., af­fec­tion­ately known as “Pete” or “King Ge­orge,” 82, de­parted this life on Novem­ber 10, 2017, at home sur­rounded by lov­ing fam­ily mem­bers and friends.

He was bap­tized at an early age at Bethany Mis­sion­ary Bap­tist Church and served as a Trustee, Trea­surer, mem­ber of the choir, male cho­rus and The Broth­er­hood.

King Ge­orge re­tired from Al­lied Chem­i­cal af­ter 33 years of ser­vice as a Ware­house Su­per­vi­sor. He served on the Board of Di­rec­tors at the Hopewell Chem­i­cal Credit Union. He was also a ded­i­cated mem­ber of the Den­dron Hunt Club and an avid fish­er­man.

Ge­orge is pre­ceded in death by for­mer wife, Lil­lie Mae Mc­K­eever; par­ents, Ge­orge and Lu­cille Mc­K­eever, Sr.; grand­son, Keith Vaughan; brother, Lawrence Mc­K­eever; sis­ter, Lavern Smith; and adopted son, Johnny Dab­ney (“Man”).

He is sur­vived by his wife, Shirley; five sons, Ge­orge Mc­K­eever III (Adon­ica) of Peters­burg, Ron­ald Mc­K­eever, Sr. (Glo­ria) of New Or­leans, LA, Ar­mien Thomas and Ge­orge Thomas, both of Hopewell, An­toine Fin­nell of Rich­mond; five daugh­ters, Robin Ma­son (Danny), Rev. Brenda Diane An­der­son (Ty­rone) of Rich­mond, Bar­bara Jack­son, La­toya Thomas John­son (Shavon). all of Hopewell, and Tasha Key (Jerome) of Rich­mond; de­voted daugh­ters-in-law, Mary Mc­K­eever, Novella Mc­K­eever and Na­dine Mc­K­eever; 26 grand­chil­dren, Ro­te­ria, Rod­ney, Ge­orge IV, Ron­ald Jr., Michael, Tymein, Jac­que­line, Tyree, TyAsia, Dean­dre, Deatrin, Deav­ion, Den­zell, Wes­ley, Lavert, Allyah, James, Chris, Der­rick, Jaylisa, Jeelel, Tamisha, Alea, KeKe, An­to­nia and Tae; 14 great-grand­chil­dren; god­son, An­to­nio Miller; god­daugh­ter, Tasha Mc­K­eever; broth­ers, James (Mar­i­lyn), Alvin (Au­gusta), Robert (Dul­ceana) and Wil­liam (Deloise), Chirf­fro­nia Parker (Terry), An­thony Broad­nax (Ce­les­tine), Keith Gil­lus (Joyce), Pa­trick Broad­nax (San­dra), McKen­ney Sykes (Laura), Lee Chris­tian (Helen) and Mack Broad­nax Jr. (Wanda); five sis­ters, Helen Bennett, Rev. Merle Keene (Robert), Betty Nun­nally, Frances Mack­lin and Glo­ria Rose; sis­terin-law, Delores Hol­land and her hus­band who was a de­voted broth­erin-law Nathan; fa­ther and mother-in-law, Mack and Shirley Broad­nax; many de­voted nieces, neph­ews, cousins and a host of other rel­a­tives and friends.

Homego­ing ser­vice will be held at 12 noon, Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16, 2017, at Bethany Mis­sion­ary Bap­tist Church, 613 E Wythe St., Pas­tor, Rev. Eli Melvin, of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Wilk­er­son Memo­rial Ceme­tery.
