Mrs. Ber­nice McCain, 68, of 1024 West South Blvd., Peters­burg, Vir­ginia, en­tered eter­nal rest peace­fully Wed­nes­day morn­ing, April 11, 2018 at the John Ran­dolph Med­i­cal Cen­ter. She was born March 16, 1950 in Prince Ge­orge County, to the late Dea­con Ben­jamin Myrick, Sr., and the late Dea­coness Sal­lie Myrick. She re­ceived her pri­mary ed­u­ca­tion in the Din­wid­die County Pub­lic School Sys­tem, and was a grad­u­ate of the South­side High School Class of 1968. She was a ded­i­cated em­ployee of South­side Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter for 43 years.

At an early age, she con­fessed Christ, was bap­tized, and be­came a mem­ber of Prov­i­dence Bap­tist Church, Prince Ge­orge, Vir­ginia. She served the Lord in what­ever ca­pac­ity she could. She pre­vi­ously served as an Usher, Sun­day School Sec­re­tary, Va­ca­tion Bi­ble School Di­rec­tor, Ad­vi­sor for the Busy Bee Youth Min­istry, and Boy Scouts. She also was a mem­ber of the Church Fi­nance Board, and mem­ber of the Brenda Mae Bon­ner Memorial Choir. Dea­coness McCain was the present Church Clerk, and also served in the fol­low­ing min­istries faith­fully: Mis­sion­ary, Dea­coness, and Pas­tors Aide.

Not only was she whol heart­edly in­volved with her home church, she pos­sessed a true love for Mis­sions and out­reach. For many years, she has served the Bethany Bap­tist As­so­ci­a­tion dili­gently as Trea­surer. The Con­ven­tion de­pended upon her lead­er­ship and the mem­bers en­joyed work­ing with her in var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties.

Within Prince Ge­orge County, she was a for­mer mem­ber of the South­ern Chris­tian Lead­er­ship Con­fer­ence, and the NAACP. She served as Chair­per­son of the Schol­ar­ship Com­mit­tee for the Fel­low­ship of Churches, Prince Ge­orge and Vicin­ity. Ber­nice was a mem­ber of the Wom­ens Fel­low­ship Break­fast Group, Peters­burg, Vir­ginia.

At the time of her pass­ing, she was the Pres­i­dent of the Vir­ginia Bap­tist State Con­ven­tion Wom­ens Aux­il­iary. She was a reg­u­lar at­tendee and worked tire­lessly with the Na­tional Bap­tist Con­ven­tion, Inc. USA., hav­ing served the Wom­ens Di­vi­sion, al­ways mak­ing sure the Vir­ginia Del­e­gates were in or­der for the Grand Wom­ens March. Ber­nice was a mem­ber of the Po­plar Grove Chap­ter #`1307, hav­ing served as a Past Wor­thy Ma­tron. She was a for­mer mem­ber of the ABWA, and mem­ber of the Board of Trustees for Vir­ginia Univer­sity of Lynch­burg.

Be­sides her par­ents, she was also pre­ceded in death by two brothers, Rev. An­thony Myrick, Sr., and Dea­con Brian Myrick, a mother in law, Vir­ginia McCain, and a GodSis­ter, Dr. Joan Cum­mings, M.D.

She has left to trea­sure her pre­cious mem­o­ries, a lov­ing hus­band, John T. McCain, her lov­ing chil­dren, Tyree McCain (Can­dace), and Ericka Aikens; grand­chil­dren, Akira and Callen Aikens, Lyla and Bryce McCain; two sis­ters, Mar­garet Dick­er­son (Rev. Wil­lie), and Jac­que­lyne Myrick two brothers, Dea­con, Ben­jamin Myrick, III (Glenice), and War­ren Myrick; fa­ther in law, John McCain; a sis­ters in law, She­lia Myrick; Shirley McCain, Marva Cook (Michael),

Mary Vanessa John­son (Ron­ald), Roberta Ragland (Den­nis), Jessie McCain, Linda McCain, Brenda Scales (David); three aunts, Rosa Gee, Ber­nice Myrick and Car­rie Bon­ner; a host of lov­ing nieces, and neph­ews.

Fu­neral ser­vices for Ber­nice McCain will be held 12 noon, Satur­day April 21, 2018 at the Union Branch Bap­tist Church 3356 Union Branch Road, Peters­burg VA, Dr. Sylvia Tucker of­fi­ci­at­ing and Rev. Dr. Charles Whit­field, Pres­i­dent of the VA Bap­tist State Con­ven­tion, eu­lo­giz­ing.

In­ter­ment will fol­low at Din­wid­die Memorial Park. Pub­lic view­ing will be held Fri­day April 20, 2018 from 10-4 p.m. at the Peters­burg Chapel and from 6-7 p.m., Fri­day April 20 2018 at Prov­i­dence Bap­tist Church, 15901 Prov­i­dence Road, S. Prince Ge­orge, VA.

The fam­ily will re­ceive fam­ily and friends start­ing Mon­day April 16, 2018 from 6-9 pm at the home place 27904 Perkins Rd., N. Din­wid­die, VA
