Hopewell Kiwanis Wine Tasting Festival coming soon
HOPEWELL — The Kiwanis Club of Hopewell will hold its eighth annual Wine Tasting Festival on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Historic Beacon Theatre in downtown Hopewell. This event continues to grow each year, and this year the Kiwanis Club is pleased to announce that popular local band Magnolia will return and perform a special concert for festival patrons on the Beacon Theatre stage from 2-4 p.m. Admission to the concert is included in the price of the Wine Festival ticket.
Tickets to this year’s festival and concert are now on sale for $25 in advance and can be purchased from any Kiwanis member, the Ford Agency, Vergara’s Cleaners, the Beacon Theatre (a surcharge will be added) or online at www. hopewellwinetasting.com. Tickets purchased at the door the day of the event will be $30.
If a business purchases 10 or more tickets, Kiwanis will recognize them as a Kiwanis Club of Hopewell Corporate Sponsor, and will include the business in their advertising campaign, on Facebook and on its sponsorship display banner at the event. For corporate sponsorship pricing and incentives, contact any member of the Kiwanis Club or call 804-571-1711 for details.
The 2018 Hopewell Kiwanis Club Wine Committee consists of Jim Slagle, Rich Strongin, Wilfred Fredericksen, Tonda Williamson, and Jan Yonning.
For 2018, the Kiwanis Club has increased the number of wineries, and this year seven wineries will be participating in the festival: Byrd Cellars Vineyard and Winery, Castle Glenn Estates Farm and Winery, Cooper Vineyard, Haley’s Honey Meadery, James River Cellars, Mattaponi Winery and Skippers Creek Vineyard. All are back due to popular demand and requests from patrons. Light snacks will be provided by Hopewell Quick Lunch.
The eighth annual Wine-Tasting Festival is the Kiwanis Club's major community fundraising event and supports youth service programs in the area by providing scholarships for graduating high school seniors at both Hopewell and Prince George high schools, support of the Kiwanis Terrific Kids Program at all three Hopewell elementary schools, support for the Carter G. Woodson Middle School “PAWS” store, sponsorship of Key Clubs at Hopewell High School and Prince George High School, and support of the Hopewell Public Schools Reading and Literacy Program.
During the first three weeks of ticket sales over 60% of available tickets have been sold. This is likely to be sold out. The Kiwanis Club highly recommends that patrons purchase tickets early due to the popularity of this event and the return performance of Magnolia included in the price of admission.
