Gilbert Trust to host annual alumni homecoming

WINSTED >> The W. L. Gilbert Trust will host the 16th annual alumni Homecoming for school alumni and friends on Saturday, Nov. 5. The day begins at 9 a.m. with the Alumni Volleyball game in the gym. For more information about participating, contact Kaitlin Gillard at gillardk@gilbertschool.org. Also at 9: a.m. will be the Alumni 5K Cross Country Race. The contact for participating is Brett Watson, Class of 1982, at bwatson@propadvisors.com. Children’s activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., which will include a petting zoo and face painting. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a Cheerleading Clinic will be held at 10:3-0 a.m. in the small gym for grades K-8. The cost is $10 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., guests may enjoy Brunch in the school cafeteria. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance. Each purchase includes a complimentary ticket to the football game. Children 10 and under are free. Guests also have the option to bring a bag lunch to picnic on the lawn or tailgate in a designated area of the parking lot.

The 2016 Distinguished Alumni recipients will be present at the brunch, including Kathleen Spencer Kilpatrick, Class of 1970, The Gilbert Heritage Award; Alison Shea, Class of 2007, The Young Alumni Achievement Award; Deirdre Houlihan DiCara, Class of 1973, Professional Achievement Award; David Oyanadel, Class of 1988, Outstanding Community Service Award; and Patrick Cooke, Class of 1989, Outstanding Athlete Award.

The day concludes with the Gilbert/Northwestern vs. Haddam/Killingworth football game. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on the Van Why Memorial Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for Adults and $3 for Seniors, Veterans & Students. To purchase tickets for the brunch, RSVP: homecomingrsvp@gilbertschool.org
