Plant sale starts today
GOSHEN >> The 35th Annual Earth Day Plant Sale, sponsored by the Northwest Conservation District (NCD), returns to the Goshen Fairgrounds, 116 Middle Street (Route 63) in Goshen on April 21 – April 23.
Considered “the area’s largest Conservation Gardening event”, this 3 day sale is the District’s major funding raising event to support its conservation, education and technical assistance to 34 towns and its citizens in northwestern Connecticut. At this “Celebration of Earth Day”, gardeners will find thousands of green and growing plants, including native shrubs and perennials, bare root and evergreen tree plugs, edibles from strawberries and asparagus to fruit trees, flowering and ornamental trees, groundcovers and ornamental grasses. The selection of plants is geared towards native species to provide habitat for wildlife and food sources for pollinators, butterflies and birds. A demonstration rain garden is being featured to help homeowners clean up storm water runoff one yard at a time. Visit the NCD online store at www.nwcd.org or contact us at 860-6267222.
