Plant sale starts today

GOSHEN >> The 35th An­nual Earth Day Plant Sale, spon­sored by the Northwest Con­ser­va­tion Dis­trict (NCD), re­turns to the Goshen Fair­grounds, 116 Mid­dle Street (Route 63) in Goshen on April 21 – April 23.

Con­sid­ered “the area’s largest Con­ser­va­tion Gar­den­ing event”, this 3 day sale is the Dis­trict’s ma­jor fund­ing rais­ing event to sup­port its con­ser­va­tion, ed­u­ca­tion and tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance to 34 towns and its cit­i­zens in north­west­ern Con­necti­cut. At this “Cel­e­bra­tion of Earth Day”, gar­den­ers will find thou­sands of green and grow­ing plants, in­clud­ing na­tive shrubs and peren­ni­als, bare root and ev­er­green tree plugs, ed­i­bles from strawberries and as­para­gus to fruit trees, flow­er­ing and or­na­men­tal trees, ground­cov­ers and or­na­men­tal grasses. The se­lec­tion of plants is geared to­wards na­tive species to pro­vide habi­tat for wildlife and food sources for pol­li­na­tors, but­ter­flies and birds.
