DAR of­fers free genealogy work­shop

WINSTED » A free genealogy work­shop will be held at the Beard­s­ley Li­brary, 40 Munro Place, Winsted, on Satur­day, Sept. 23, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event is hosted by the li­brary and the Brooks-Green Woods Chap­ter, Na­tional So­ci­ety Daugh­ters of the Amer­i­can Revo­lu­tion. Cof­fee and cook­ies will be pro­vided.

Par­tic­i­pants are en­cour­aged to bring ge­nealog­i­cal in­for­ma­tion on them­selves, their par­ents, and their grand­par­ents. Ex­pe­ri­enced DAR mem­bers and Verna Gil­son, genealogy and lo­cal his­tory re­search as­sis­tant at the Beard­s­ley Li­brary will of­fer guid­ance for fur­ther re­search and help those in­ter­ested in DAR mem­ber­ship. Any woman 18 years of age or older who can prove lin­eal, blood­line de­scent from an an­ces­tor who aided in achiev­ing Amer­i­can in­de­pen­dence is el­i­gi­ble for DAR mem­ber­ship.
