Art league to hold ex­hibit, sale

WOOD­BURY » The Water­town Art League is hav­ing their an­nual Fall Art Ex­hi­bi­tion and Sale of fine art, Sept. 22-24 at the Old TownHall in Wood­bury on the cor­ner of 5 Moun­tain Road and Main Street North.

Hours are Fri­day, 1-5 p.m.; Satur­day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sun­day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The show in­cludes a va­ri­ety of orig­i­nal art, in var­i­ous media and sizes that will be avail­able for pur­chase.

Mil­ton church to hold silent auc­tion, tag, bake sale

LITCH­FIELD » Mil­ton Congregational Church of Litch­field will hold its an­nual tag and bake sale on Sept. 22-23, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Sept. 24, 12-3 p.m. Sun­day is a real bar­gain day. As al­ways, you can find pretty much ev­ery­thing at the Tag Sale from fur­ni­ture to an­tiques, from jew­elry to linens, from books to lamps, from tools to toys. The ladies of the church will also have their fa­mous home­made jams, jel­lies, pick­les, rel­ish, and baked goods for sale. We will fea­ture door prizes con­sist­ing of items do­nated by lo­cal area mer­chants. Again this year there is a “Sea­sonal Cel­e­bra­tion” room where you can find dec­o­ra­tions for Christ­mas, Easter, Hal­loween, and Thanks­giv­ing fes­tiv­i­ties.

New this year is a silent auc­tion of an­tiques, vin­tage fur­ni­ture, and other se­lected finer items. The silent auc­tion runs from 9-11 a.m. on Fri­day Sept. 22. Take time be­tween bids to shop the rest of the tag sale; the church will ac­cept cash or checks. There will be no early ac­cess to the tag sale.

Drop by the church lo­cated at 548 Mil­ton Road, in Mil­ton cen­ter, a beau­ti­ful four-mile coun­try ride from Route 202 in Litch­field and browse the taste­fully dis­played trea­sures and even stop to en­joy a gourmet hot dog from Salty Dog Hot Dogs.

New Hart­ford Day is to­day

The 44th An­nual New Hart­ford Day and Eureka Grange Fair will be held Sun­day at Brodie Park on West Hill Pond in New Hart­ford from 10 a.m.-4p.m. More than 50 lo­cal busi­nesses and civic or­ga­ni­za­tions will be par­tic­i­pat­ing. The day will fea­ture hayrides, great food, crafts, area ven­dors and mu­sic pro­vided by the coun­try group The Cha­parrals. New Hart­ford Day is a great way to find out what is go­ing on in New Hart­ford, all are wel­come. Ad- mis­sion to the event is free, and park­ing is $2 to sup­port Boy Scout Troop #19.

Wine & Food Tast­ing tick­ets avail­able

TOR­RING­TON » The Warner Theatre will hold its 16th An­nual Wine & Food Tast­ing on Fri­day, Oct. 27 from 6-9 p.m. Gen­eral Ad­mis­sion and VIP Ad­mis­sion tick­ets are avail­able now. For 15 years, the Warner has hosted the Wine & Food Tast­ing fundrais­ing event, draw­ing people from through­out North­west Con­necti­cut and be­yond. This year’s event fea­tures se­lec­tions from more than 30 in­ter­na­tional wine, craft beer and spirit ven­dors, 15 area restau­rants and a penny auc­tion.

The ex­clu­sive VIP Room, lo­cated in the Nancy Marine Stu­dio Theatre, in­cludes spe­cial­ized cater­ing, a pri­vate tast­ing of premium wines and spir­its and live en­ter­tain­ment. This year’s tast­ing is pre­sented in as­so­ci­a­tion with The Cork Fine Wine & Spir­its.

Com­mer­cial drones are topic of pro­gram

TOR­RING­TON » TheWarn­erTheatre and the En­tre­pre­neur­ial Cen­ter of North­west Con­necti­cut Com­mu­nity Col­lege will present “Dis­cover the Com­mer­cial Use of Drones” on Tues­day, Oct. 3 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Warner’s Nancy Marine Stu­dio Theatre. The fee for this course is $25.

Come learn about the tech­nol­ogy, busi­ness, ap­pli­ca­tions and reg­u­la­tory com­pli­ance of Unmanned Aerial De­vices (UAVs) – Drones. Be­come an emerg­ing busi­ness in the ap­pli­ca­tion of drone us­age to pro­pel your busi­ness to the next level. Who should at­tend? Busi­nesses and en­trepreneurs in the fields of con­struc­tion, agri­cul­ture, real es­tate, life and safety, in­sur­ance, photography, media and more.

Corey Morin is a li­censed FAA Drone pi­lot and will of­fer a live demon­stra­tion of drone flight in the Stu­dio Theatre. He will dis­cuss and an­swer ques­tions about the ap­pli­ca­tions of drone us­age in this in­no­va­tive field. Nina An­der­son is a FAA pi­lot with years of ex­pe­ri­ence as a cor­po­rate pi­lot and she will dis­cuss and an­swer avi­a­tion is­sues such as air space safety.
