STORRS — Chris Dailey has been making history coaching alongside of Geno Auriemma for the last 33 years. Now, along with former Tennessee associate head coach Mickie DeMoss, she is among the first assistant coaches elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Dailey and DeMoss were part of the class announced at halftime on the ESPN2 broadcast of Monday night’s UConn/Louisville game.

Dailey, hired not long after Auriemma was hired at UConn in 1985, has helped the Huskies to 11 national championships, 18 Final Fours and six undefeated seasons.

Auriemma and Dailey took a program with one winning season before their arrival and has guided them to 31 straight winning seasons, 29 seasons with at least 20 wins and 19 with 30 victories.

“This is the first year that they put assistant coaches even into the mix, so I never thought one way or the other about it, but to be thought of in that light by people in my profession, I am happy,” Dailey said.

When she is inducted as part of the class of 2018 in the ceremony in Knoxville, Tenn., on June 9, she will join Auriemma as well as Rebecca Lobo, Jen Rizzotti and Kara Wolters to make it five Hall of Famers affiliated with the UConn women’s basketball program.
