How Red Flash qualified: NEC tournament champion Record: 24-9

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH

1. Red Flash junior guard Jessica Kovatch became the first player in her class among NCAA Division I women’s basketball players to hit the 2,000-point plateau and with a NEC tournament record 103 points, she is currently at 2,150 points.

2. Saint Francis erased a 29-point deficit in an overtime win at Portland, the second largest comeback in Division I women’s basketball history

3. The Red Flash rank in the top 10 nationally in total steals, steals per game, 3-pointers made and attempted and turnovers forced. Only Florida Gulf Coast and DePaul have attempted more 3-pointers this season than Saint Francis’ total of 1,075.

4. This is the third time in the last four seasons that UConn opens NCAA tournament play against the NEC champion and the third time meeting the Red Flash winning 97-46 in 1999 and 86-37 in 2002

5. Saint Francis is 0-11 in the NCAA tournament, the most games without posting a victory in NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament history.
