Po­lice launch man­hunt for bank rob­ber

Sus­pect al­legedly stated he had a gun when he stole cash from the San­tander Bank at 1224 Welsh Road on Aug. 15, po­lice said

Mont­gomery Town­ship po­lice have asked for the pub­lic’s help in iden­ti­fy­ing a man who they say robbed a San­tander Bank branch on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Au­thor­i­ties said that just be­fore 1:30 p.m. that af­ter­noon, a black male — de­scribed as be­ing in his early- to mid-thir­ties, of av­er­age height and slim built with a well-trimmed beard and mus­tache, and wear­ing a gray suit and base­ball cap — walked into the San­tander Bank at 1224 Welsh Road and handed a teller a note re­quest­ing money while stat­ing he had a gun.

No gun was dis­played dur­ing the bank rob­bery, po­lice said, and the sus­pect fled the scene on foot with an un­spec­i­fied amount of cash, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

No one was in­jured dur­ing the rob­bery, po­lice said.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors urge any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the iden­tity of the sus­pect, or who may have wit­nessed the rob­bery, to im­me­di­ately con­tact the Mont­gomery Town­ship De­tec­tive Divi­sion at 215-362-2301 or leave an anony­mous tip via phone at 215-393-6714 or email at po­lice@mont­gomery­twp.org.
