Wilmer Corson was elected editor in chief of “Crimson and White,” the Pottsville High School periodical. Roland Knowles resigned the editorship owing to other duties, among them captaincy of the football team, pressing upon his time.
75 years ago — 1942
A quarter million dollars has been set as the goal of bond purchases when Paulette Goddard and William Gergan come to this city next Friday for a luncheon to help spur sales. Theoretically, it is going to be the most expensive luncheon ever held here, but actually it will cost nothing, for the money you invest in war bonds to attend is going to be returned to you with interest 10 years hence.
50 years ago — 1967
Joseph M. Boyle, 122 W. Sherman St., Mcadoo, has been appointed an instructor in business by the Pennsylvania State University. Boyle will be teaching both twoyear and four-year business students in the 1967-68 academic year.
25 years ago — 1992
Even though Eileen M. Letcher, got an extra-long stay in Hawaii out of it, the Mount Carbon woman said she does not want to repeat her experiences on the island of Kauai. Letcher, executive director of the Pottsville YWCA, and her daughter, Linda, Mahwah, New Jersey, were vacationing on the island when it was ravaged by Hurricane Iniki last week.
