Rachael J. Hughes, a part-time pro­fes­sor at the Alver­nia cam­pus in the Cres­sona Mall, serves with a pro­gram that serves adult and grad­u­ate stu­dents, par­tic­u­larly work­ing par­ents. She said in a re­lease that her event-plan­ning class has been plan­ning events for the sea­son and an open house is slated for 4 to 7 p.m. Tues­day to in­form peo­ple “of who we are and how we can serve them.” The event will in­clude food and cur­rent stu­dents pro­vide in­for­ma­tion to at­ten­dees. The class will also hose a fam­ily friendly fall fes­ti­val from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 that will in­clude crafts, sto­ries, food, safe trick-or-treat­ing, games and other ac­tiv­i­ties. Peo­ple of all ages are wel­come and cos­tumes are en­cour­aged, Hughes said in the re­lease. On Oct. 14, the class will par­tic­i­pate in a fundraiser ti­tled “Dance for Dutchy” at Hu­mane Fire Com­pany, Pottsville.
