3 area college football players earn Mac honors
ANNVILLE — Mahanoy Area graduate Rob Van Horn was one of three area college football players honored Tuesday when the Middle Atlantic Conference announced its All-MAC football Team.
Van Horn, a senior right tackle at Lebanon Valley College, was named to the firstteam offense, while Pine Grove’s Guy Zimmerman and Upper Dauphin’s Trey Campbell earned honorable mention honors.
Van Horn started all 10 games for the Dutchmen and graded out as the team’s top offensive lineman. He was a key cog in an offense that led the MAC in time of possession, was ranked second in the conference in total offense and allowed just 14 sacks all season.
Zimmerman, a senior defensive end at Lebanon Valley, recorded 36 tackles (24 solo), including 6.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. He led the Dutchmen with five quarterback hurries and force a pair of fumbles.
Campbell, a senior running back at King’s College, earned his first postseason individual award by being selected as a fullback, although he played the hybrid H-back position this season. He posted career-highs of 43 catches for 498 yards with five touchdowns and averaged 11.6 yards each reception. In his final career game against Wilkes on Saturday, Campbell caught a career-high 10 passes.
