P.J. Comeford, Foster Township tax receiver, settled with the county commissioners the tax duplicate for 1917.

As a result of recent legislation, families will no longer receive milk vouchers from the Schuylkill County Board of Assistance. Previously, mothers’ assistance cases received a voucher which was redeemable through their regular milk dealers at the rate of one pint of milk for each child in the family under 16 years of age.
50 years ago — 1968
Bert Block, Fountain Springs, joined the appliance department sales staff at Hadesty’s. He is a graduate of Drexel Institute Evening School in municipal engineering and studied two years at the Wharton School.

Schuylkill County voters were not rushing to the polls this morning to cast ballots in the primary election. The polls opened at 7 a.m., and many election workers said they did not expect a big turnout this time. Voters were to select nominees for a county judgeship, sheriff, district attorney, district justice and a host of municipal and school board seats.
