The Frackville Rotary Club sponsors the distribution of thesauruses to seventh- graders at North Schuylkill Junior/ Senior High School, Fountain Springs, and at Trinity Academy in the Father Walter J. Ciszek Education Center, Shenandoah, with programs on how to use the books. Attorney Karen Domalakes and Frackville Rotary president Suzanne Domalakes recently presented the programs. Karen Domalakes has developed a lesson plan on Rotary and the use of the learning tools. Suzanne Domalakes is a retired educator and librarian with experience in teaching junior high students, according to a Rotary press release, which also notes that Rotary International has a goal of enhancing education worldwide.
Good American Hose Company will have a soup and bake sale beginning at 11 a. m. Nov. 17. Soup varieties include beef vegetable, potato, chicken rice, chicken noodle, ham and bean and stuffed pepper. The cost is $ 6 a quart and $ 3.50 per pint. The cost for Maryland crab soup is $ 8 a quart and $ 4.50 per pint. Columbia Hose Company No. 1, Centre Street and Stadium Road, will have “Sip & Paint a Snowman” beginning at 6 p. m. Jan. 19. Participants will paint a ceramic snowman with friends while enjoying complimentary snacks and beverages. A souvenir wine class will be included. The cost is $ 40. A holiday vendor show to benefit the Shenandoah Valley High School Class of 2022 will be held from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Dec. 2 at the William Penn Fire Company, Mount Olive Boulevard ( Route 54 just west of Shenandoah). Organizers are looking for crafters and vendors. The Tamaqua Area Middle and High schools will have a Veterans Day assembly at 7: 25 a. m. Monday in front of the high school. The public is invited to the ceremony that will honor all veterans.

The William Penn Fire Company, Mount Olive Boulevard ( Route 54 just west of Shenandoah), is having an “Almost Armondo’s” unbaked pizza sale, advance- order- only, with pickups after 3 p. m. Friday. The cost is $ 10 for plain, $ 12 for pepperoni and .75 cents extra for hot sauce. The order deadline is Monday. There will be no walk- ins or delivery for the pizza sale.
