PLAYERS TO WATCH
Jonathan Taylor, RB
Running behind a stout, experienced offensive line, the sophomore from New Jersey leads the nation in rushing by more than 23 yards per game, and he’s on pace to challenge 2,000 rushing yards this season ( at his current rate, he’ll reach 1,969). If he rushes for 137 yards today, he’ll reach the 1,500- yard plateau and become the fourth Wisconsin running back to reach that number in consecutive seasons, joining Doak Walker Award winners Ron Dayne, Montee Ball and Melvin Gordon.
Jan Johnson, MLB
Johnson has been a starter all season for the Nittany Lions, but he’s been out of sight against teams that operate out of spread offenses. Against Michigan last week, Johnson had the opportunity to play a more traditional middle linebacker role against a run- heavy offense and piled up the numbers. He wound up with 10 tackles, a career high, and was one of Penn State’s bright spots. It’s fair to expect he’ll be as good, if not better, against Wisconsin that does some of the same things as Michigan.
