Jazz in the Park
For the second year, Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. has partnered with Jazz Bridge to present Jazz in the Park Thursday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Inn Yard Park, 4208-52 Ridge Ave., East Falls.
This rain or shine event is free to the public.
The concert will feature Suzanne Burgess
Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, along with food and drink.
Manayunk Harvest Festival
Celebrate the fall season at the Manayunk Harvest Fest for a full day of live music, seasonal activities, food vendors and all things fall Sept. 29 in Pretzel Park and all along Main Street in Manayunk.
Manayunk retailers will feature fall specials throughout the day, and the live music will move into Manayunk restaurants during dinner hours.
The East Falls Development Corp. will present Fallser Fest Saturday, Sept. 29, in the parking lot under the Twin bridges, 4100 Ridge Ave., East Falls.
This is a rain or shine event.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will feature a day of fun, family play, food, drinks, dancing, music, karaoke and more.
The event will pick up again from 7 to 11 p.m. with dancing, eating, drinking, DJ Kevin Kong and World-town Soundsystem band!
Tickets to the evening event are $20.
Bereavement Support Group
Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Roxborough will host a bereavement support group for widows and widowers on alternate Tuesdays, Oct. 2 through Dec. 11, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
The group is facilitated by Deborah K. Gawthrop, M.S., G.M.S., a certified grief management specialist. There is no fee to attend. Refreshments will be provided.

Friends on the Run
Friends in Pink, a nonprofit that benefits those in the local community who are dealing with breast cancer by providing grants for unexpected expenses associated with treatment, will hold its third annual Friends on the Run 5K run and walk Oct. 7.
The race will start and finish on the Manayunk Tow Path, 4590 Main St., Manayunk.
The race will be professionally timed by the Bryn Mawr Racing Co.
The cost to participate is $25 for adults and $15 for children. Day-of registration will be an additional $5.

Wissahickon Photo Contest
Friends of the Wissahickon, the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association and the Woodmere Art Museum present the biennial Wissahickon Photo Contest for individuals interested in submitting photos they captured while visiting Wissahickon Valley Park.
All photos entered in the contest must be taken within Wissahickon Valley Park, along the Green Ribbon Trail or on one of the WVWA-managed preserves.
Categories are: people, wildlife, landscape and structures.
Participants may enter up to four photos taken within the last three years.
Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, first place in each category and People’s Choice (chosen by Facebook voters).
Any of the three co-hosting organizations may feature the winning photos online, in their printed materials or on social media.
Entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified.
Photographs will not be returned.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 15. Winners will be announced Oct. 29.
