The Roxbor­ough Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal School of Nurs­ing will be host­ing a health fair with free health screen­ings, such as blood pres­sure, glu­cose and bone min­eral den­sity scans.

Those in­ter­ested in sched­ul­ing a flu shot can call the hos­pi­tal in ad­vance at 215487-4458.

The Se­nior Expo also will in­clude free give­aways, in­clud­ing a day trip for two to the state Capi­tol to shadow DeLis­sio while she works in Har­ris­burg.

Jazz in the Park

For the sec­ond year, Coun­cil­man Cur­tis Jones Jr. has part­nered with Jazz Bridge to present Jazz in the Park Thurs­day, Sept. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Inn Yard Park, 4208-52 Ridge Ave., East Falls.

This rain or shine event is free to the pub­lic.

At­ten­dees are en­cour­aged to bring a chair, along with food and drink.

Manayunk Har­vest Fes­ti­val

Cel­e­brate the fall sea­son at the Manayunk Har­vest Fest for a full day of live mu­sic, sea­sonal ac­tiv­i­ties, food ven­dors and all things fall Sept. 29 in Pret­zel Park and all along Main Street in Manayunk.

Manayunk re­tail­ers will fea­ture fall spe­cials through­out the day, and the live mu­sic will move into Manayunk restau­rants dur­ing din­ner hours.

Fallser Fest

The East Falls De­vel­op­ment Corp. will present Fallser Fest Sat­ur­day, Sept. 29, in the park­ing lot un­der the Twin bridges, 4100 Ridge Ave., East Falls.

This is a rain or shine event.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will fea­ture a day of fun, fam­ily play, food, drinks, danc­ing, mu­sic, karaoke and more.

The event will pick up again from 7 to 11 p.m. with danc­ing, eat­ing, drink­ing, DJ Kevin Kong and World-town Soundsys­tem band!

Tick­ets to the evening event are $20.

Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group

Koller Fu­neral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Roxbor­ough will host a be­reave­ment sup­port group for wid­ows and wid­ow­ers on al­ter­nate Tues­days, Oct. 2 through Dec. 11, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

The group is fa­cil­i­tated by Deb­o­rah K. Gawthrop, M.S., G.M.S., a cer­ti­fied grief man­age­ment spe­cial­ist. There is no fee to at­tend. Re­fresh­ments will be pro­vided.

Friends on the Run

Friends in Pink, a non­profit that ben­e­fits those in the lo­cal com­mu­nity who are deal­ing with breast can­cer by pro­vid­ing grants for un­ex­pected ex­penses as­so­ci­ated with treat­ment, will hold its third an­nual Friends on the Run 5K run and walk Oct. 7.

The race will start and fin­ish on the Manayunk Tow Path, 4590 Main St., Manayunk.

The race will be pro­fes­sion­ally timed by the Bryn Mawr Rac­ing Co.

The cost to par­tic­i­pate is $25 for adults and $15 for chil­dren. Day-of regis­tra­tion will be an ad­di­tional $5.

Wis­sahickon Photo Con­test

Friends of the Wis­sahickon, the Wis­sahickon Val­ley Water­shed As­so­ci­a­tion and the Wood­mere Art Mu­seum present the bi­en­nial Wis­sahickon Photo Con­test for in­di­vid­u­als in­ter­ested in sub­mit­ting pho­tos they cap­tured while vis­it­ing Wis­sahickon Val­ley Park.

All pho­tos en­tered in the con­test must be taken within Wis­sahickon Val­ley Park, along the Green Rib­bon Trail or on one of the WVWA-man­aged pre­serves.

Cat­e­gories are: peo­ple, wildlife, land­scape and struc­tures.

Par­tic­i­pants may en­ter up to four pho­tos taken within the last three years.

Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, first place in each cat­e­gory and Peo­ple’s Choice (cho­sen by Face­book vot­ers).

Any of the three co-host­ing or­ga­ni­za­tions may fea­ture the win­ning pho­tos on­line, in their printed ma­te­ri­als or on so­cial me­dia.

En­tries that do not com­ply with the rules will be dis­qual­i­fied.

Pho­to­graphs will not be re­turned.

The dead­line for sub­mis­sions is Oct. 15. Win­ners will be an­nounced Oct. 29.

East Falls House Tour

The East Falls Com­mu­nity Coun­cil and East Falls Vil­lage will present the East Falls House Tour Sun­day, Oct. 28, from noon to 4 p.m.

The an­nual East Falls House Tour will of­fer tour­go­ers the op­por­tu­nity to visit a num­ber of dis­tinc­tive and in­ter­est­ing homes and prop­er­ties through­out East Falls.
