BACK TO SCHOOL BASH:

The Saratoga Springs Salvation Army is hosting a Back to School Bash for families with children in the community on Tuesday, August 30 at 6 p.m. School supplies and school clothes will be available for students along with free hot dogs, a bounce house and other fun activities. I FISH NY:

Join the DEC’s I FISH NY staff for an afternoon of fishing fun on Tuesday, August 30 from noon - 2 p.m. Learn about the different species of fish that live in the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers and how to fish for them. Other topics will include fishing safety, fishing regulation­s, and knot tying. Because this is a free fishing clinic, a freshwater fishing license is not required. However, all applicable fishing regulation­s remain in effect during the event. Fishing rods and bait will be provided. Pre-registrati­on is required as program space is limited to 25 participan­ts. RETIRED RACEHORSES:

The New York State Gaming Commission will host a meeting focused on the issue of retired racehorses on Tuesday, August 30, at 11:15 a.m. at the FasigTipto­n Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion in Saratoga Springs. The public meeting, a follow up to last year’s successful day-long summit, will continue the Commission’s efforts to drive attention and resources to racehorse retirement. The event will also see the debut of a Commission-produced film highlighti­ng the importance of responsibl­e aftercare in New York State and discussing the many viable options for retired racehorses. Starting later this year, any owner, trainer or assistant trainer seeking licensure or renewal in New York State must attest that they have viewed the film. FasigTipto­n’s Humphrey S. With an energizing live show that features five dynamic vocalists, a fluid rhythm section, and a hot three-piece horn section, Cryin’ Out Loud will definitely make your event one to remember. YADDO GARDEN TOURS:
