ARGYLE - Lionel R. Sharp passed away peace­fully on Au­gust 29, 2017, on the 58th an­niver­sary of his marriage to Jeanne S. John­son.

Lionel was born in hat­tan, New York on Sep­famtem­ber 9, 1927 to Grace (Co­hen) and Her­man Sharp. When Lionel was three years of age, the ily re­lo­cated to Al­bany, New York. A grad­u­ate of the Milne School of Al­bany, Lionel went on to serve in the United States Navy. He was hon­or­ably dis­charged in 1947. He con­tin­ued his ed­u­ca­tion at SUNY Al­bany where he earned his MA in English then on to SyraJohn­son. cuse Uni­ver­sity to earn a BA in Amer­i­can Amer­i­can Stud­ies. In 1959, while in Syra­cuse, Lionel met and mar­ried Jeanne S.

Af­ter 18 years as an lish Pro­fes­sor at CazenoCom­pany via Col­lege, Lionel and his fam­ily re­lo­cated to Argyle, New York. He re­tired from Finch Pruyn and in 1998 where he was an Ad­min­is­tra­tive As­sis­tant.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Lionel was pre­de­ceased by his wife Jeanne. He is surJohn vived by his chil­dren, Sharp (Donna Decker) and Kathryn Piper (Patrick), grand­chil­dren, El­iz­a­beth Sharp, Daniel, Ryan and Steven Sharp, and his great grand­daugh­ter Brook­lyn Sharp. He is also sur­vived by his sis­ter-in-law Margie Lee John­son as well as sev­eral cousins.

A pri­vate gath­er­ing will be held at the con­ve­nience of the fam­ily.
