K-Plate Korean BBQ owners John Goh, second from left, and Kevin Shin, second from right, took a quick break from work on Sept. 27 to hold a ribbon-cutting for their new restaurant at 75 4th St. in downtown Troy with Katie Hammon, executive director of the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District and Troy Mayor Patrick Madden. Goh and Shin began their business as a food cart in December 2015, while they were still students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and later moved into Troy Kitchen, which provides incubator space for aspiring restaurateurs. They spent about a year there before leaving in March to begin renovate their new home.
