Blue Streaks climb in state poll

Un­de­feated Troy High (60) re­tained its No. 1 po­si­tion in Wednesday morn­ing’s large school (Class AA) New York State Sports­writer poll, no sur­prise after the Fly­ing Horses’ 40-15 win over Shaker (5-1).

Saratoga (6-0) moved up five spots to No. 20 after a 40-12 win over Al­bany High (0-6) while the Shaker fell from its pre­vi­ous spot at No. 15 down to No. 26 in the 30-team poll.

Colonie (5-1) and Shenen­de­howa (5-1) were again hon­or­able men­tions.

Class A

In Class A Burnt Hills-Ball­ston Lake (6-0) also re­mained at No. 5 in the poll after a 50-7 win over Amsterdam (3-3). Aver­ill Park (51) moved up five spots to No. 15 after a 35-26 win over Queens­bury.

Queens­bury (3-3) and South Glens Falls were both hon­or­able men­tions.

Class B

Glens Falls (6-0) also stayed

on top of the Class B NYS poll after its 27-14 win over Schuylerville last week. The loss dropped the Black Horses (5-1) to No. 9 in the poll.

Cobleskill-Rich­mondville (5-1), Hud­son (4-2) and Hud­son Falls (4-2) were hon­or­able men­tions.

Class C

To the win­ner goes the spoils as Holy Trin­ity (5-1) moved up one spot to No. 11 in the Class C poll after a 48-19 win over Hoosick Falls last week. In­dian Bowl win­ner Still­wa­ter (5-1) jumps up three spots to No. 12 after its 48-13 win over for­mer No. 4 Mechanicville, who fell to No. 13 in this week’s poll. Voorheesville (5-1) moved up from hon­or­able men­tion sta­tus to No. 17 this week.

Chatham (4-2) Hoosick Falls (4-2) and Water­vliet (51) were hon­or­able men­tions.

Class D

Green­wich (6-0) re­mained at No. 3 in the Class D poll after its 42-3 win over White­hall. Cam­bridge (5-1) stayed at No. 5 after a 58-0 win over Cam­bridge.
