Chris Newkirk, a culi­nary stu­dent at the Cap­i­tal Re­gion BOCES Ca­reer and Tech­ni­cal School from Shenen­de­howa High School, checks out one of the mul­ti­tude of do­na­tions made to the Puerto Rico Re­lief ef­fort at BOCES. Cap­i­tal Re­gion BOCES joined forces with the Puerto Rico Dis­as­ter Re­lief Team of the Cap­i­tal Re­gion, a re­gional col­lab­o­ra­tion between area or­ga­ni­za­tions that in­clude the Cap­i­tal Re­gion His­panic Cham­ber of Com­merce, Al­bany Latin Fes­ti­val As­so­ci­a­tion, Fund­abil­i­ties, the City of Al­bany Poverty Re­duc­tion Ini­tia­tive, Cen­tro Civico and the Cap­i­tal District chap­ter of 100 His­panic Women. BOCES stu­dents made posters and col­lec­tion boxes and dis­trib­uted them to sev­eral lo­ca­tions to Cap­i­tal Re­gion BOCES CTE cam­puses at 1015 Water­vliet-Shaker Road in Al­bany and 174 state Route 30A in Schoharie, the Cen­ter for Ad­vanced Tech­nol­ogy at Mo­honasen, 400 War­rior Way, Rot­ter­dam, and BOCES cen­tral ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fices at 900 Water­vliet-Shaker Road in Al­bany. Re­quested items in­clude bat­ter­ies, flash­lights, por­ta­ble lan­terns, di­a­pers, baby wipes, cases of water and fem­i­nine hy­giene prod­ucts. All items must be pack­aged and un­opened.
