PORTER CORNERS - Rita M. Millis, 73, of North Greenfield Road, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Born on March 19, 1944 in Porter Corners, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Rose (Chandler) Van Dusen. Rita married Thomas E. Millis Sr. on Sept. 14, 1963 in Saratoga Springs. The couple have resided in Porter Corners for 50 years.She was a member of the Victory Bible Baptist Church of Porter Corners. Rita enjoyed collecting owls, auctions, farming, and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, Thomas Earl Millis Jr.; four sisters, Esther Van Dusen, Rosey O’Donald, Eva Farrow, Doris Van Dusen. Survivors besides her husband of 54 years, Thomas E. Millis Sr. of Porter Corners include five children, David Earl Millis of Porter Corners, Nellie Allman of Gansevoort, Laura Senecal (Robert Jr.) of Ballston Spa, Peggy Sue Welty (Curtis) of Pennsylvania, Amy M. Mosher (Brian) of Gloversville; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; three siblings, Fred Van Dusen (Marie) of Saratoga Springs, Roger Van Dusen (Glenda) of Saratoga Springs and Nancy Taylor (Kenneth) of Porter Corners; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the Victory Bible Baptist Church, 4532 Rt. 9N, Porter Corners.The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center for the kindness and care given to Rita during her illness.The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Victory Bible Baptist Church, 4532 Rt. 9N, Porter Corners, NY 12859.Arrangements are under the direction of the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
