“There was a lot of bumping everywhere,” winning jockey Luis Saez said of the stretch run. “At one point, I thought she gave up. And when I saw Manny [Franco, aboard Wegetsdamuunys] come outside, I said, ‘Man, he’s beat me.’ But when I switched my stick, [Goodbye Brockley] tried to come back, and she did. She responded, and that’s the way we won the race.”
Out of the money just once in seven starts, Goodbye Brockley now sports a 3-2-1 record for ownerbreeder Hilly Fields Stable. The $55k winner’s share of the Statue of Liberty boosts her earnings to $176,900.
