The “not so traditional health-food” restaurant, Park Island Market and Cafe, has been open since early March and co-owners Armando Ortiz Martinez and Joseph Sheridan say they are thrilled to be sharing their passions with their neighbors.

Specializing in locally-sourced fresh produce, this organic market also serves a variety of tasty, healthy dishes ranging from vegan to beef. Part of the mission of Park Island is to educate others on the long term benefits of a healthier lifestyle, but with a spirit of gradualism. They understand that families today take somewhat of a “mix and match” approach to healthy eating. “We wanted to be able to have something for everyone,” said Sheridan. “It’s not about pushing ‘diets,’ it’s about showing how easy it is to make things taste great while being healthy.”

The market and cafe offer an eclectic mix of foods from around the world featuring international cooking from many ethnic groups and those of specific diets on Sunday and Monday nights.

Located at 250 Park Ave. across from the Ole Velda Rose in the Park Avenue Historic District of Hot Springs National Park, Park Island is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
