Library hosts caregiver training

The Garland County Library will host the Oaklawn Center on Aging’s Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program will offer its Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Family Caregiver Workshop in the library’s auditorium. The workshop will focus on nutrition and fluid balance, behaviors, activities and end of life care for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

The workshop is participan­t driven and encourages audience questions and discussion­s, a news release said. Demonstrat­ions of activities, techniques and tools to enhance the caregiving experience will also be used. Lunch will be provided by the Oaklawn Center on Aging.

This program is free and open to the public, but registrati­on is required.
