The Muses Project to present ‘The Merry Widow’ in September
The Muses Project will present a fully staged production of Franz Lehar’s operetta “The Merry Widow” in Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village beginning Sept. 15.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Woodlands Auditorium, Hot Springs Village, and 6 p.m. Sept. 16 and 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Muses Cultural Arts Center, 428 Orange St.
The show highlights the talents of the Muses Performance Troupe, a dynamic cast of 42 local and nationally touring professional singers, dancers, instrumentalists, and students from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, a news release said.
“The Merry Widow,” sung in English and set in glamorous turn of the century Paris, depicts a world of romantic intrigue and complications, elegant silliness, and exquisite and timeless music. This beloved masterpiece captures the carefree spirit of the Viennese operetta, where affairs of state very often double as love affairs. The Muses production of “The Merry Widow” has all the beauty and charm of “Hello Dolly” blended with the tuneful elegance and grace of the Viennese waltz, the release said.
Tickets are $35. All artists, teachers, and students are admitted free, but must call the Muses to register. Call 609-9811 or visit www.themusesproject.org for tickets or information.
