Mid-Amer­ica Science Mu­seum an­nounces schol­ar­ship win­ner

Mid-Amer­ica Science Mu­seum re­cently an­nounced that this year’s col­lege schol­ar­ship will be pre­sented to Ha­ley Riggs.

A Foun­tain Lake Char­ter High School se­nior, Riggs plans to pur­sue a science-re­lated de­gree in Marine Bi­ol­ogy and is cur­rently a Team Tesla vol­un­teer at Mid-Amer­ica Science Mu­seum, a news re­lease said.

Guests will have the op­por­tu­nity to meet Riggs and her fam­ily dur­ing Taste of the Hol­i­days at Mid-Amer­ica Science Mu­seum from 6-9 p.m. Thurs­day fol­low­ing a special VIP re­cep­tion for spon­sors and hon­orees. Riggs will also be as­sist­ing ed­u­ca­tors with fun science-re­lated ex­per­i­ments through­out the evening as guests en­joy food and drinks from more than 20 ven­dors from around the state.

Pre­sented by TLI Print, Oak­lawn Rac­ing & Gam­ing, Mid-South En­gi­neer­ing and Tri-Lakes Liquor, this year’s Taste of the Hol­i­days will fea­ture live mu­si­cal per­for­mances by Ja­cob Flores and DJ Courier Cole­man and will in­clude a pre­mium silent auc­tion with items rang­ing from a ro­man­tic eight­day trip for two up the Danube River cour­tesy of Vik­ing River Cruises to tick­ets to Dis­ney World and Grace­land.

This year’s ven­dors in­clude Am­brosia Bak­ery, Arkansas Bev­er­age, Belle Arti Ital­ian Ris­torante, The Porter­house Steak & Seafood, Bleu Mon­key Grill, Bliss, Don Juan Mex­i­can Bar & Grill, Hig­don Square Cafe, JV Farm, Kil­wins Hot Springs, La Ha­cienda Mex­i­can Restau­rant, Moun­tain Val­ley Spring Wa­ter, The Next Level Kitchen, Red Light Roast­ery Cof­fee House, Sam’s Club, Silks Bar and Grill, Stubby’s BBQ , Su­pe­rior Bath­house Brew­ery, Taste of In­dia, Tri- Lakes Liquor, Wingstop, and LongHorn Steak­house.

Julie Pasquinzo, Mrs. Mena, was crowned 2018 Mrs. Arkansas Amer­ica at the Mrs. Arkansas Amer­ica Pageant on Nov. 11 at the Hot Springs Con­ven­tion Cen­ter. Pasquinzo also won the in­ter­view por­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion. The pageant’s first run­ner-up was Mrs. Lake Dar­danelle, Selina Smith; the sec­ond run­ner-up was Mrs. Cen­tral Arkansas, Can­dace Car­pen­ter; the third run­ner-up was Mrs. Cen­tral North­west, Tina Beth McClure; the fourth run­ner-up was Mrs. Pu­laski County, Bay­ley Rye; and the fifth run­ner-up was Mrs. Lonoke County, Stephanie Brom­ley. Pasquinzo will com­pete in Au­gust at the Mrs. Amer­ica Pageant in Las Ve­gas.
