Three Oaklawn-raced horses entered into Ohio Derby

Three Oaklawn Park-raced horses are entered in the $500,000 Ohio Derby Saturday at Jack Thistledow­n Racino, including Title Ready, 10-1 in the program for breeder/owner Charles Fipke and Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen.

Title Ready is 10-1 on the morning line and raced three times this year at Oaklawn, winning a Feb. 1 first-level allowance race before finishing fourth in the Grade 2 $900,000 Rebel Stakes on March 17 and fourth in the $150,000 Northern Spur Stakes on April 14.

Title Ready will be making his first start since finishing second in the $100,000 Sir Barton Stakes May 19 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

C.J. McMahon, who won 19 races this year at Oaklawn, is scheduled to ride Title Ready for the first time in the Ohio Derby. A son of More Than Ready, Title Ready is scheduled to break from post 5 and carry 120 pounds.

Another Asmussen trainee, Dream Baby Dream, is scheduled to break from post

11 under Ricardo Feliciano and carry 120 pounds.

Dream Baby Dream (151) raced four times this year at Oaklawn, finishing third behind Bravazo in a Jan. 13 first-level allowance race, third behind Title Ready, third behind stablemate New York Central at the similar condition Feb. 19 and seventh in the Grade 1 $1 million Arkansas Derby April 14.

Bravazo returned to win the Grade 2 $400,000 Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 17 at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans and ran second to eventual Triple Crown winner Justify in the Preakness. New York Central finished second in the Grade 3 $300,000 Pat Day Mile May 5 at Churchill Downs for Asmussen, who has led the Oaklawn standings nine times since 2007.

Machismo, another son of More Than Ready, will be making his first start since finishing ninth in the Arkansas Derby. Machismo (20-1) is scheduled to break from post 8 under Kevin Radke and carry 120 pounds.

Flameaway, 13th in the Kentucky Derby, is the 5-2 program favorite. Probable post time for the 1 1/8-mile Ohio Derby, which goes as race 9, is 4:10 p.m.

Recent Ohio Derby winners include Oaklawn-raced Caleb’s Posse in 2011, Title Contender in 2013 and Mr. Z in 2015.

Multiple Oaklawn winner Dazzling Gem is the 9-5 program favorite for the $100,000 Evangeline Mile Stakes Saturday at Evangeline Downs Racetrack in Louisiana.

Owned by Arkansas automobile dealer Steve Landers and trained by Brad Cox, Dazzling Gem won his first two career starts in 2016 at Oaklawn before finishing fourth in the Arkansas Derby. Dazzling Gem was a Feb. 19 allowance winner at Oaklawn.

Dazzling Gem, seeking his first stakes victory, is scheduled to break from post 5 un-

der Colby Hernandez and carry 117 pounds.

Probable post time for the Evangeline Mile, which goes as race 8, is 9:06 p.m.

Cox finished further in Oaklawn’s trainer standings this year with 27 victories. Landers is a member of the Arkansas Racing Commission.

Multiple Oaklawn stakes winner Marquee Miss drew the rail for the Grade 3 $100,000 Chicago Handicap Saturday for female sprinters at Arlington Park in Illinois. Probable post time for the 7-furlong Chicago Handicap, which goes as race 8, is 5:11 p.m. Also entered is Oaklawn-raced Hotshot Anna.

Oaklawn-raced Mythical Tale, Vertical Oak and Astroll in the park are entered in the

$75,000 Roxelana Overnight Stakes for female sprinters Saturday at Churchill Downs. Probable post time for the

6-furlong Roxelana, which goes as race 10, is 4:26 p.m.

Oaklawn-raced St. Joe Bay and American Anthem are entered in the $200,000 San Carlos Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita. Probable post time for the 7-furlong San Carlos, which goes as race 11, is 7 p.m.

Conquest Windycity and Chief Know It All, both Oaklawn allowance winners, are entered in the $100,000 Mystic Lake Mile Stakes on the turf Saturday at Canterbury Park in Minnesota. Probable post time for the 1-mile Mystic Lake Mile Stakes, which goes as race 4, is

7:44 p.m.

Saturday’s card at Canterbury Park includes three other races with Oaklawn-raced horses.

Curlin’s Honor, 10th in this year’s Rebel, is entered in the

$200,000 Mystic Lake Derby. Also entered in the 1-mile turf event are Oaklawn-raced Mr. Jagermeist­er and Cowboy Creed. Probable post time for the Mystic Lake Derby, which goes as race 5, is 8:18 p.m.

Oaklawn winners Luna de Loco, Malibu Max and Wings Locked Up are entered in the

$50,000 Dark Star Cup Stakes. Probable post time for the 6

1/2-furlong Dark Star, which goes as race 6, is 8:52 p.m.

Thoughtles­s, runner-up in the $150,000 Carousel Stakes for female sprinters April 7 at Oaklawn, is entered in the $50,000 Hoist Her Flag Stakes. Probable post time for the 6-furlong Hoist Her Flag, which goes as race 7, is 9:22 p.m.

Magnum Moon recorded a 5-furlong bullet workout of 1:00.80 Saturday over Belmont Park’s training track, the

3-year-old colt’s third breeze since the May 5 Kentucky Derby. Magnum Moon won this year’s Rebel and Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn.
