As the 2016 winner of the 35th Nationwide Country Showdown in Santa Clarita, Savannah Burrows is known for having a country style that’s all her own.

During the showdown, Savannah wowed over 8,000 guests during her high-energy performance, relatable lyrics and powerful vocals, adding to the 16-year-old’s continued success as a musical artist.

Over the years, the Santa Clarita native has been sharing her talent, including opening for the Swon Brothers, and playing at the Bluebird Café in Nashville.

As she prepares to perform for a crowd of 15,000 at Santa Clarita’s Concerts in the Park on July 29, she is offering our readers a glimpse of her greatest passion.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in my hometown known as Valencia, which is located in the heart of Santa Clarita, California.

What inspires you to write your original music?

I want to connect with my audience and share a piece of my life with them. As I face life’s challenges, I want to share them in my hope that I can inspire others. I strive to positively impact my audience and encourage them to make the right choices.

Where have you performed in the past?

I have opened for the Swon Brothers, played at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, sang the National Anthem for a tribute ceremony recognizing the sacrifices made by Los Angeles Country Fire and Law Enforcement Officers who were the first responders to the one of California’s largest forest fires, hosted by Congressman Steve Knight and our Mayor Bob Kellar.

I have also performed for 8,000 in the local round of the 35th Nationwide Country Showdown talent contest held at Central Park in Santa Clarita, where I won first place, and many other local events in the L.A. area.

Where did your passion for music originate?

I started my musical journey at eight years old when I attended my first concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center to see Taylor Swift performing her Fearless Tour. During the concert, I turned to my father, pointed to Taylor onstage and said, “Daddy, this is want I want to do for the rest of my life! Can I please take guitar lessons?”

In addition to already playing the piano, my guitar became attached to my hip. I have developed a burning desire to dedicate myself to become a singer and songwriter. Coming from a musical family, my father, Bruce, cowrites; and my mother, Bobbi, majored in music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, toured with the Wisconsin Singers, and is no stranger to the entertainment industry.

Who are your favorite musical artists, and how did they inspire your music?

Artists such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, and LeAnn Rimes inspire me because they are such good role models. These women inspire me with their maturity, wisdom, strength, charisma, and dedication to their music careers.

Other talented, hard-working artists such as Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, and Keith Urban are some of the other countrymusic personalities that stand out to me because they appeal to all audiences.

What is your ultimate goal as a musical artist?

As a singer-songwriter, my goal is to encourage others to express themselves and embrace their inner qualities that shine bright within them. Writing music allows me to connect with my audience as well as give them an outlet for artistic expression. As an aspiring role model, I strive to present myself as a true leader and allow my music to fulfill my audience with passion.

What’s next for you and your music career?

I enjoy performing my original music in front of ever-larger audiences. I am fully committed to earning my place in country music!
